Towers & Gardens
Alton Towers is set in 500 acres of glorious Staffordshire countryside, flanked by the villages of Farley in the North and Alton in the South. The origins of the house itself date back to the 8th century, although most of what we see now dates to the late 18th, as do the gardens which were laid out by the 15th Earl of Shrewsbury from around the mid 1700’s. The history of our site is rich and fascinating and can be found in detail on our heritage website – click http://www.altontowersheritage.com/ to go straight there.
